Might have to put some thought into balancing though. Right now I’m Game B, the best ship is the precursor which is purchasable and can be had day 1 if you’re focused.
Alien ships should be built with specific roles in mind and really shine in that role. Example: the Mycon ship. In the lore the Mycon are a spore species that colonize new planets by shooting their fungus spores into a planet to terraform it, killing all other existing life.
So in my mind the Mycon ship should have a huge capacity for genesis torps and atomic detonators. Truly the best colonizing ship in the game.
Some other great roles that alien ships could fill:
* Minesweeper (Umgah or Shofixti)
* Minelayer (Vux)
* Planet Defense (defensive bonus when planet is in sector like Tholian) (Mrnmhrrm)
* Highest attack odds but low defense odds (Chenjesu)
* Low attack odds but highest defense odds (Yehat)
* Fast, nimble, efficient trader. Something like 150 holds and 2 turns movement, low fighters/shields (Syreen)
* Interdictor (Kor-ah)
* Massive fighter capacity but combat odds at or slightly above 1 (Ur-Quan)
